Daily Crapbook: New Year's Resolutions

Not exactly timely, but having finished the inks I thought I'd take a moment and really have a think about what I need to accomplish this year.  But that seemed overwhelming, so I just started doodling.  I ended up with more things I'd like to do rather than need to do, but maybe that's important to figure out as well.

Monkey Rag Is Inked!

Monkey Rag is inked.  The last scene took longer because of some animation fixes, but like always, it was worth it because I'm much less irritated by it now.  So that's that chunk of work over.  I'm very pleased that I was able to do that last :50s in January, because now there's more time to focus on the long-neglected backgrounds.  I've already submitted Monkey Rag as a work in progress to one festival, so I'm committed to a deadline of March 15th.  With freelance work ramping up again, I just hope I'll be able to slap together something worthwhile in time.

Monkey Rag Sc. 30 Inked

Sc. 30, the monstrously large scene, is inked!  Only five seconds left to ink- I think I can I think I can....

UPDATE:  Whoops!  I uploaded the old pencil test!  Silly me... fixed now!

"Manko and Spitzi"

Nearly finished inking the monstrous Sc. 30, and closing in on the final ten seconds!  Just did the color assignment for Mitzi and Spanko in drag.  Spanko sure can work it.

No Time To Sleep, Monkey Rag inks nearly done

I wish I could just take a magic pill that would eliminate the need for sleep. Wait, those pills kind of already exist... No!  Not time to medicate just yet.  Back to work!

Daily Crapbook: Happy Birthday Danny Kaye

I'm so close to finishing the inks for Monkey Rag that I can't afford to lose steam with sketching every day, but when I found out that Danny Kaye would have been 100 years old today I had to take a break and doodle something of him.  I've been watching his performances and collecting photographs of him in preparation for a major figure study I plan to do one day, because his expressions are amazing- he is just the best at everything. Just studying his hands will be illuminating.  I can't wait until I have the time to get to it, but until then, have a crapbook sketch, Danny Kaye, wherever you are.

#FAFATL: Gerdie Bell

Going to #FAFATL drop Gerdee Bell at the Harlot show tonight.  Hope some hunters show up!

Daily Crapbook: Sketch of Gerdie Bell

If I have time tomorrow morning, I may do a #FAFATL drop to promote the Harlot show at the Five Spot that night.  "Gerdie Bell" is a dazzlin' little darlin' you might meet at the show!

Monkey Rag Checkpoint

All December I told myself that if I could get to inking Scene 24 in Monkey Rag before New Year's Eve, then I would be in a good place.  It would be inevitable that I would hate myself no matter what at this point, but if I could only make it to Scene 24 I would hate myself slightly less.  Well, I put off cookie-baking and vacuuming and some elements of proper grooming, so that on December 31st I not only made it to Scene 24, but I finished it.  That puts Monkey Rag at less than :50 seconds left to ink, and since this is all the most recent animation, there are minimal time-consuming animation revisions that need to be done.  I'm starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel.  But now, time to sleep.
