Daily Crapbook: Lonely Turtle and Life's Frustrations
The past week or so I've really been wearing down. Inking Monkey Rag is going slowly, but that I could take if we weren't running into so many technical problems with ToonBoom AnimatePro. The whole reason we invested in the software was for their peghole recognition feature, so one guess as to which feature is simply refusing to work. There are more problems, but that is the stickiest one. Without the optical registration, we have no production. Every night Nate and I struggle to sift through help files, forum discussions, and send probably-sorted-into-spam-folder emails; I just get this sick feeling that this is where it all ends and Monkey Rag will be a perpetual work-in-progress. So at the end of this day, I chose to draw a lonely turtle to express my frustration. I bet in makes perfect sense in some culture...

Daily Crapbook, and do I mean Crap.
Computer problems make me grrrr. Spent all of the work day trying to scan in scenes for Monkey Rag is it ain't workin'! Why can't ToonBoom, my scanner, and my computer just all get along?

The New My Little Pony
Dear Princess Celestia...
As a kid, I had a few My Little Pony toys, but I never liked the show much. It was girly to the extreme- just a big pink, sparkly bore. And then the new show came out, and I rolled my eyes at the very idea. But the rabid appreciation by everypony for the new show so baffled me that one day I just sat down and watched bunch of episodes, prepared the roll my eyes out of my head. But I was pleasantly surprised! This week, I've learned not to judge a show until I've given it a chance. Otherwise, I might miss out on a lot of fun. Whee!

Daily Crapbook
I had nice reasons to doodle today. It was my friend Emily's birthday, and somebody said something really nice on my Tumblr. Also I had a nap today. It was a good day.

Today's News
Woke up to the horror of the news today. Its childish, but the more I think about the shooting, the more I just end up wishing Batman were real so this kind of thing wouldn't happen anymore.

Daily Crapbook: My Arm Hurts
I've inked almost thirty seconds of Monkey Rag, and its coming along nicely. However, when I take breaks, I usually doodle a while. So I'm beginning to develop a notion that I ought to learn to draw with my other hand...

Daily Crapbook: I Want This Dress
I haven't been on eBay on months, so the other day I treated myself to a search for some vintage Hawaiian duds. I found this dress, and I want it! Again, I won't buy it, but drawing it takes away the disappointment of letting it go.

Daily Crapbook: Looney-Animani Doodles
Took my niece and nephew to see some good Looney Tunes play on the big screen at the fabulous Fox Theater. Afterwards I showed them some Animaniacs cartoons. It really put me in the mood to doodle.

Going to Dragon*Con
Just got word that I was accepted to Dragon*Con as an attending professional. That sounds fancy, huh! I'm not sure exactly all that title entails, but I know two things for sure: 1) I'm getting a free badge, and 2) I won't have a table. One kind of eases the disappointment of the other. But I'm overall happy! If I get really in the spirit, I might even dress up for the first time ever. Any suggestions for easy cosplay that a lazy brunette with a bob could make in a few weeks?

Daily Crapbook: Captain Pancakes
Still thinking about nicknames...
No thighs are safe from the griddle-fried goodness of Captain Pancakes.

Daggers: Lady Highwayman of the Eventide
I recently tweeted with my pal Dagny and got permission to call her "Daggers", which is quite possibly the best nickname of all time. This is the image that it calls to mind...so badass. The best nickname I've ever had is "Captain Pancakes." Not very intimidating, but at least I have a rank.

Daily Crapbook: Lip Sync Epiphany
I was asked on tumblr if I had any tips for doing lip sync. I remembered the best advice I ever got was from my old director Ward, who explained to me how we believe that Muppets can articulate any sound even though they essentially only have two mouth positions, open and closed. It was a revelation.

Daily Crapbook" Kitty On Morphine
My cat recently had dental surgery, so she was on kitty morphine for a few days. It was a good arrangement for the whole household.

Happy Fourth of July!
In honor of Independence Day, I was going to write a loving, thoughtful essay on what America has meant to me and to my family, but then I got lazy and just drew a cigar-chomping bald eagle with a big ol' gun. Enjoy!

Daily Crapbook: Making Banana Bread
I just learned to make lovely, delicious banana bread muffins, and that makes me feel like a domestic goddess. However, I can't seem to stave off the urge to gobble them all up in one sitting.
