Free Art Friday Sketches

"Free Art Friday" is an Atlanta event I just heard about.  Local artist hide artwork in the parks and walking areas around town, then tweet clues to the locations.  The first perosn to decipher the clues gets to keep the art!  Cool, huh?  An art scavenger hunt sounds so much fun- I just had to slap together something for the big Urban Art Hunt on April 27th.  Here are my sketches for the free art I'm making.  If you're interested in hunting, check out the twitter feed for #championarthunt

Started watching Avatar on Netflix, and asked myself "why didn't anyone ever tell me about this show?"  The countless Avatar fans I've ignored over the years might react like this.

Regular Show Promo: Spontaneous Combustion

Over the last couple of years, it appears that I have less and less work to show.  While the kind of work I get has definitely shifted, its also because I am not at liberty to show my work until long after it has aired.  In some cases, things never actually do air.  Or in other cases, as with the storyboards for Ugly Americans, that work was never meant to air.  So when I get a nugget I can Show and Tell, it feels pretty sweet.  Here is a promo I got to animate for Regular Show.  The characters were miniscule on the screen, and that gave me license to forgo details and just have fun.  Enjoy!

Yes, another scene animated, and now I can move on to the next! Forgive the sloppy After Effects move- this is just to get the idea across.  My compositing wizard husband will handle the final.  I just can't get the hang of the graph editor...

Pin Curl Magazine Illustration: Sketches

Because I'm determined to keep distracting myself from "Monkey Rag," I sought to illustrate an article for the burlesque periodical "Pin Curl Magazine."  Here are some thumbs and my sketch.  I'll post the final after its published.  The article is entitled "That's My Boa, Bitch!"  Really, how could I resist that?

It seems like every few months, I go through a cycle wherein I spend all of my free time scouting eBay for vintage dresses I know I'll never buy.  The idea of wasting so many hours being repugnant to me, I have now decided to justify it as "Research" and begin to draw said dresses.  This particular one was written off because it has a tiny waist.  Honestly, is it that common to have a 24 inch waist?
